In the integrated configuration, Network Trace for OS/2 is installed on one or more machines within a LAN segment. Tracing can be triggered remotely or locally. Because the tracing software is already present within the network, there is no need to attach or configure additional machines in order to take a trace. Because it is a software-only solution, there is no need to purchase, install, configure, and maintain specialized hardware.
The primary advantage of this configuration is the time and expense saved when tracing on a remote network segment, since it is not necessary to send an engineer on site to gather trace data.
