Supported File Formats and Protocols
Supported Trace File Formats
The Trace Analyzer is able to read from and write to a variety of trace
file formats. However, the license you received may limit you to
a subset of these (see Licensing section).
Version 1.0 of the product includes I/O Plug-in modules to support
the following formats:
-
Sniffer (uncompressed) - This file format is supported because of
its status as a de facto standard in the world of network analysis tools.
Most analysis and network packet capture tools read and write files in
this format. Trace file names are expected to have a .enc
or a .trc extension.
-
DatagLANce - This file format was introduced with IBM's now defunct
DatagLANce network analyzer, previously available for OS/2. It is
supported for backward compatibility with this toolset. Trace file
names are expected to have a .dgc extension.
-
Kernel Trace for OS/2 - This file format is used by Golden Code's
Kernel Trace for OS/2 capture software, which records data about service
requests made of the OS/2 operating system kernel. Trace file names
are expected to have a .ktr extension.
Supported Protocols
The Trace Analyzer v1.0 includes protocol definitions to support, fully
or partially, the following protocols. However, the license you received
